I have the great joy of singing with the worship team at my church. Worship is one of the ways that I enter into the presence of God and one of the ways that I can glorify Him.

The most sacred moments, though, don’t happen when I’m behind a microphone. Those holy moments happen when I am in the congregation surrounded by a community of believers as we lift our voices together.

When my voice is simply one of many, I experience a little glimpse of what Heaven will be like as we stand around the throne and sing praises to the Lamb.

And God has furthered my vision of Heaven through unique overseas mission trip experiences that include worshiping with believers from different cultures. Even though I don’t always understand the words, these moments are one of my favorite parts of the trip because there’s a deeper heart language that I do understand.

Earlier this spring I traveled to Latin America to share the gospel with East-West. It was a blessing to support the local church and partner with them to share the love of Christ with their neighbors.

As we traveled door to door, my translator and I shared the story of God’s love and redemption. Some people had never heard the name of Jesus before.

Over the course of the week, many people believed and were connected to their local church for Bible study and follow up meeting with a pastor. It was an honor to be a part of the work God is doing in Latin America!

Towards the end of our trip, we attended a service at a “daughter church”—the church planted by the main church we partnered with for the week. Despite the heat, people packed tightly into the pews to sing praises to our King.

As we raised our voices together—sometimes singing the same song but in different languages—I caught a glimpse of what it will be like to worship with people from every tribe, every tongue, and every nation.

What a tangible picture of the Kingdom!

And through this peek into eternity, I learned something about worship: it’s simply God’s people gathered together for one purpose… praising and glorifying the One who created us and saved us.
