Banele* was listening closely to the stories the people around him were sharing. His sister was a Christian, and she desperately wanted him to know all about Jesus. That’s why she’d brought her friends over to visit.

He’d listened to her often, yet Banele wasn’t convinced that Jesus was a special man … much less a Savior.

But during this conversation, his sister talked about how much God loves his creation and wanted to heal people. Banele was intrigued by these stories and listened to her and her Christian friends tell him about God’s love and freedom. He wanted that freedom.

Banele knew he was a sinner—a failure, really. He was all too aware of the troubles he’d caused, and desperately wanted someone to accept him despite his imperfections.

And that day Banele learned that God was willing to accept him as he was. As he heard that about Christ’s forgiveness and cleansing, Banele decided to give his life to Jesus. He was a new man, and immediately started telling others how His Savior showed up in his life … giving him a new identity and filling him with boldness to preach the gospel.
