Benicio*, a compassionate and reserved Latin American man, was a firm believer in Christ. He began his walk in faith after trudging through a difficult season of life, which ended in a divorce from his wife.
Since becoming a believer, Benicio loved to share the gospel with those around him. But there were two people he greatly feared sharing with … his parents.
Benicio accompanied Derek*, an East-West Ministries trip participant, and his translator, in evangelism around the city. The locals loved Benicio, and they appreciated his company as he helped spread the gospel.
On the final day of the trip, Benicio voiced a simple request … he wanted Derek and the translator to share gospel with his parents. Without hesitation, the three went to their home to tell them the Good News.
Benicio’s parents believed in God, but they had never heard of Jesus before. They thought their good deeds would get them to heaven.
But as they listened to Derek explain the gospel and God’s perfect and unwavering love, their perspectives shifted completely.
As the story ended, Benicio asked if they would like to accept Christ and, when they said yes, he prayed with them and they became part of Benicio’s eternal family.
Now Benicio and his parents experience the joy of sharing the Good News with everyone they know.
