Last week, we shared the first part of a story written by East-West missionaries to Eastern Europe. Today the story continues.
Life in our unreached corner of Eastern Europe hasn’t changed in hundreds of years.
It is a male-dominated society and no human being or social agenda is going to change that. As I sat and listened to Ava*, I realized so deeply that Jesus is the only hope for this region of the world.
Men like Ava’s husband are not going to change unless they have a real and radical encounter with Jesus. He has to transform them and we have hope that He will. James* and I know men here who used to be like Ava’s husband. They are now following Jesus and are loving husbands and fathers.
Spending time with Ava also reaffirmed to me the importance of my husband James' ministry.
Some of the guys he meets with regularly for Bible study are from the same people group as Ava. I am so grateful for their future wives that they are learning a different way of treating women.
Even James helping wash dishes or holding my hand or reading a book to our kids is radical for them to witness. They have literally never seen anything like it.
Change here is going to be slow. It’s going to be one family at a time, slowly transformed by Jesus. After spending time with Ava, I gained such a desire to pray regularly for this transformation.
Would you join James and I in praying for Ava and the Muslim people of Eastern Europe?
Please ask God to spread the gospel from family to family and that lives for everyone—especially for women and children—would radically change as a result of their relationship with Christ.
