After attending an East-West training in Africa, two national partners went out to talk to people about Jesus. They strayed from the beaten path to walk through a field. That’s where they met Ocram—a local shepherd—who had struggled with the vice of alcohol for years.
His addiction was like a contagious disease… infecting his body and the relationships between him and his family.
But the national partners didn’t see Ocram as a lost cause. They knew he could find freedom from the grip of alcohol through Jesus, so they began to speak of the Story—the gospel—holding the power to draw people away from choices that lead to death.
When the national partners finished telling Ocram about Jesus’ work on the cross, Ocram knew he needed what He had to offer.
Ocram prayed and received Christ then and there and claimed freedom from alcohol.
After five days of sobriety, Ocram’s wife and three children noticed the huge change in him and wanted to know what had caused it. He told them of his new faith in Jesus and explained that they could be set free from the bondage of sin. That day they received Christ, too.
