Fulfilling the Vision
In 2002, East-West sought the Lord for a set of measurable parameters for its mission of evangelizing the lost, equipping leaders, and establishing churches. When establishing these measurable goals, East-West wanted them to be realistic but also wanted to leave room for God’s intervention.
God gave Founder John Maisel a specific target: “God gave me the passion to reach 1% of the world’s lost population with the truth of the gospel . . . because of who He is; not because of who I am.”
In 2002, the unbelieving population totaled around 5 billion and 10,000 people groups were considered unreached. East-West’s goal became to reach 1% of the world’s lost by exposing at least 50 million people to the gospel and penetrating at least 100 people groups.
This vision became known as the “1% Factor.”
Because reaching these goals required establishing a greater infrastructure abroad, East-West also added the goals of training 10,000 national leaders and establishing 1,000 churches throughout its regions of ministry.
Since 2002, God has faithfully been moving East-West toward fulfilling all of the 1% Factor goals. With more than 163,007 leaders trained, 20,195 churches planted, and 103 people groups penetrated, there is only one goal that remains to be met . . . reaching 50 million people with the message of the gospel.
With this goal in mind, the ministry efforts to equip national believers and establish a growing number of churches have only intensified. In fact, with more nationals becoming empowered to share the gospel and to plant churches, the numbers of new believers, church leaders, and reproducing churches are multiplying exponentially.
The fulfillment of reaching 50 million people with the gospel has increasingly gained momentum . . . and is now within reach for the first time.
As our June 30, 2012 deadline approaches, we are trusting that God will use the evangelism projects being developed and implemented in our 44 countries of operation as well as the growing number of new believers, leaders and churches to “Fulfill the Vision” and “Finish the 50” by exposing 17.5 million more people to the gospel.
Please join us in praying that the God will “Fulfill the Vision” that He gave to John Maisel . . . so that He may be glorified among the nations!
