Healing for the Broken

In South Asia, a local woman named Mai* struggled to find healing. After suffering from a mysterious illness for 17 years, Mai no longer believed she would ever have a healthy life again.

One day, Mai’s friend—Hanh*—asked to pray over her, but Mia was reluctant. As a devout Hindu, Mai was skeptical of Hanh’s faith in Jesus Christ.

Mai’s parents were also resistant to Hanh’s prayers. They warned Mai that she would be disowned if she continued to seek support from her Christian friend.

But Hanh persisted … sharing the gospel with Mai and asking the Lord to heal her sickness. Over time Mai’s faith grew, and the Lord healed her both physically and spiritually.

Ultimately, Mai became a professed follower of Jesus Christ. Even though she knew her parents would not approve, Mai understood that eternal life with Christ was worth any worldly sacrifice.

But God was not done working in Mai’s life.

As Mai’s parents saw the Lord heal their daughter physically, they softened toward her new faith. Although they still practice Hinduism, they did not disown their daughter.

Now Mai continues to share her personal testimony of faith with her parents and community members, praying that they would also receive salvation through Jesus Christ.
