Walking into his appointment, Tipu*—an East-West national partner—anticipated the doctor to report a common cold and prescribe antibiotics to fight the infection. He did not expect the weeks of coughing, fatigue, and chest pain to be the onset of Tuberculosis… but suddenly the symptoms made sense.
In the moments following his diagnosis, Tipu clung to the God-breathed words of the Scriptures. He’d read the Bible stories of miraculous healing and fully trusted that if Jesus could make the lame walk and the blind see, he could make his Tuberculosis-infected lungs breathe freely again.Tipu knew hope for healing didn’t lie in the hands of his doctors, but in the Hands of the ultimate Healer—Jesus.
Once home, he collapsed to his knees and pleaded with God for a miracle … and He heard and responded.
A mere month after his diagnosis, Tipu was deemed Tuberculosis-free and God placed a new call on his life… evangelize to an unreached and unengaged people group.
Today Tipu is fulfilling God’s call on his life with an orality ministry in Southeast Asia where he presents the gospel to people in the rural corners of his country.
In these oral cultures—with no written language or translated Scriptures—Tipu is faithfully serving the One who answered his cry for another chance to take the Good News where it’s never been.
