Read John 15:1-8.

Working among Muslims has many interesting challenges. One particular challenge is getting them to reproduce their faith in others. This passage in John is a great reminder that fruit is produced when it stays connected to the Vine.

Hudson Taylor once said, “The branch of the vine does not worry, and toil, and rush here to seek for sunshine, and there to find rain. No, it rests in union and communion with the vine, and at the right time, and in the right way is the right fruit found on it. Let us so abide in the Lord Jesus.”

The Vine delivers sustenance, strength, and nourishment for fruit to grow. No one can bear fruit without the Vine. As I train Muslims to bear fruit, I’m reminded that I can't bear fruit, but Jesus can through me if I’m plugged into Him.

Father, we know fruit is only produced when connected to the Vine. Give us the desire to depend more on You for sustenance, strength, and nourishment as we seek to make disciples. Amen.
