After showing the JESUS Film in a large and wealthy South Asian city, an East-West national partner set out in search of a person of peace in the area.
A small thatched house among the elaborate city buildings caught the national partner’s eye, and he decided to stop to see if anyone was home. Once on the doorstep he called, “Is anyone here?”
A woman named Aesha responded, “Who’s there?” The national partner announced that he was a pastor affiliated with the JESUS Film and the woman quickly opened the door with a look of hopeful expectation.
Aesha told the man she was born with physical ailments that required her to use a wooden stand to walk. Her parents were idol worshippers and had passed away when she was very young. Since their death, she’d been left to live alone and relied on neighbors for survival.
She had no hope for a better future until she watched the JESUS Film and heard the gospel for the first time. Aesha felt compelled to believe in the compassionate and sacrificial Son of God displayed on the screen, but had questions for the national partner.
As he explained the gospel to her in great detail, Aesha was overwhelmed with excitement. Her life had been anything but easy and the Name of Jesus enveloped her heart with a hopeful sensation.
By the end of their conversation, Aesha had accepted Jesus as her personal Savior and asked the national partner to visit her weekly to teach her the Bible. Today she also invites her neighbors to listen to him teach the Scriptures… in hopes that they would also fall in the love with her Savior.
