Umar* was the classic example of a devout Muslim. He kept all of the rituals and was even studying to be an Imam—a spiritual leader—for a radical Islamic group in his country.
He proclaimed everything in the Quran as truth, but one day a Christian friend challenged Umar’s Islamic beliefs. They engaged in a deep spiritual conversation that ended in disagreement. Umar left that day angry and determined to convince his friend of Islam’s accuracy.
For six months, Umar read the Bible in an effort to prove his friend wrong. He read the gospel of John over and over again … and what he found surprised him.
Finally, Umar sat down with his friend again. This time, he timidly opened his mouth and confessed, “This Jesus, He must be God.” With that admission, he forsook his Islamic faith and became a follower of Jesus.
Today, Umar works with East-West to deliver the Word of God to other Muslims in his region.
