The Invitation to Come

Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to go on an Extreme Team mission trip to South Asia. In preparation for the trip, I dwelt on Isaiah 55 where God makes a repeated call to “come” and to “hear that your soul may live.”

While climbing steep mountains to bring the gospel to hard to reach places, God’s invitation to personal relationship with Him rang louder and louder in my ear. We shared the gospel with the young and old in these villages and their eyes lit up with understanding and hope as they heard—most for the first time—the story of the Creator of the mountains they call home.

Many of the people we met grew up worshipping and praying to unknown and impersonal gods. Some had heard of Jesus Christ on television, yet they had an unclear understanding of the gospel. And yes, even in the most remote villages they have satellite television!

After sharing with one woman, she tearfully explained that she believed God had sent us to her home to explain the gospel so that she could accept and be saved! I wholeheartedly agreed with her and rejoiced as God answered her prayer and mine—that He would go before us and give South Asia a hunger and thirst for His truth.

The intensity of the hike and joyful acceptance of many reminded me how important it is to go to all nations - especially those who are unreached with the saving truth of Jesus Christ.

As Romans 10:14-15 says, “How are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching … ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’”

How is God calling you to share His invitation to “come”?
