Ephesians 1 talks about the lavishness of God’s abundant grace that is given to us this very moment. His grace involves the following:
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will ... .” -Ephesians 1:3-5, emphasis added
The why behind these gifts is “the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves (Ephesians 1:6)."
Everything that is good, noble, pure, right, and loving is lavished on us by our King according to the riches of His grace. Honestly, those statements from God are unfathomable, incomprehensible, and beyond glorious.
This is grace. God, who is pure and perfect in love, is solely motivated to move for our highest good. He has taken us from the darkness of self, pride, greed and arrogance and given us the fullness of Christ that indwells us and transform us into His likeness.
He has adopted us into His eternal family, and we now shine the light of Christ in a dark world.
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” –Matthew 5:16
We must make every effort to know the free gift of His person that Jesus offers us. God, in His glorious kindness and mercy and perfect love, gives us our next breath that is completely unearned, undeserved, and unmerited because of who He is, despite who we are.
Today’s passage from Ephesians tells us that all we have is a gift in accordance “to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One he loves (Ephesians 1:6).”
How can we remain silent about this gift when Christ has raised us from death so that we can be called sons and daughters of God Almighty?
Let’s fulfill our mission as followers of Jesus. Go tell someone today about the love of Christ.
