A Miraculous Change

Fourteen years. That’s how long Dayita had not been able to walk... and she felt as though she was a burden on everyone she knew—especially her family.

One day as she sat on her bed in her one-room home in Mumbai, she saw a full page advertisement in the newspaper with photos of people she recognized from movies and the news. Each of them said the same thing, “I have experienced the power to change, and so can you.”

Dayita so longed for change. Real change. The kind of change that would not only heal her body but also her heart. So she picked up the phone and called the number on the advertisement.

About a week later, a man came to her home to deliver the Power to Change book to Dayita and her whole family. As he spoke about the stories and about Jesus Christ, she knew there was something different about him and she found herself asking for prayer.

The man—a pastor of a partner church in Mumbai—enthusiastically agreed and began praying for Dayita’s complete healing. When he finished, Dayita felt a wave of power and relief run through her body, and she did something she hadn’t done in 14 years … stood up and walked.

Her family was stunned and even the pastor was amazed at the healing that took place before their eyes. Since that day, Dayita hasn’t stopped walking. Now she and her entire family walk to the local church each Sunday and worship the God who made her whole.

150,000 Lives Changed

More than 1,600 local churches and 19,600 volunteers from all over Mumbai joined together to make the Power to Change campaign a success—the campaign through which Dayita was reached with the gospel.

During the 45-day campaign, a city of 22 million people heard the gospel, and about 150,000 of them responded in faith to its life-changing message.
