Teja’s* family was ridden with illness and—no matter how much he pleaded with the Hindu gods—they weren’t healed.

But then a local pastor introduced him to Jesus. Although skeptical, he attended church and within weeks accepted the gospel …. fully opening his heart to Jesus. At his submission to Jesus, Teja began seeing God’s mighty hand bless his family. The ongoing illnesses ceased and peace reigned in his home as God saved his entire household.

Teja didn’t know all the answers to his new Christian faith, but he knew there was power in the Name of Jesus to save the lost and heal the sick. So he started going out into his community to share the gospel and his testimony.

It didn’t take long for people to respond to his message—God’s message—and this led Teja to start a church in his home. But the more Teja obeyed God’s command to make disciples, the more resistance he faced in his Hindu community.

His neighbors tried to force him to convert back to Hinduism, and the worst persecution came when Teja and others from the church were banned from using the local water well.

Despite rising hostility, Teja and many of the believers stood firm in their faith and trekked miles for clean water in a neighboring village. Much of their time was spent making the trip back and forth for water to survive … until an East-West national partner heard of their situation and came to help.

He offered to dig a well and dedicate it to the community. In the process, he planned to work with Teja to share the gospel and point people to Jesus Christ—the Living Water.

At the water well dedication service, the national partner clearly presented the work of Jesus—life, death, and resurrection—and 200 people from Teja’s village, many of whom had persecuted him and the church, met their Savior for the very first time.
