Jesus’ message is very clear so that all may understand and have the ability to act in accordance with His ways.
“‘... apart from me you can do nothing.’” -John 15:5
Many times, we want God simply to tell us what to do and where to go so that, in our own strength, we can mobilize all the necessary resources to accomplish His plan. We tend to think that the work of God can be carried out by pushing the right buttons, recruiting the right people, organizing the right strategy, and having enough money to accomplish all the above.
But ministry doesn’t work that way.
It only works if we are mindful that, without Him, we can do nothing and choose to live in childlike dependence upon Him! We must trust God to work through us to achieve what He’s calling us to do, instead of struggling on our own to accomplish His goals.
Do you realize that our self-sufficient, ego-driven efforts will never produce lasting fruit for the Kingdom?
“‘If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.’” -John 15:6
Our lives are to be lived unto Him and through Him if they will have any eternal achievement!
Without God, nothing works.
There’s no money unless God moves. There’s no message unless God inspires. There’s no platform unless God provides. There’s no impact unless God accomplishes. There’s no love unless God instructs. There’s no power unless God indwells. There’s no joy unless God overflows.
Do you believe that today? I hope you do. Let us be dependent on God in every endeavor. Without Him, we can do nothing.
“‘If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.’” -John 15:7-8
