Your One Chance

We as Christians exist for God. If we really believe that, then His purposes and agenda for this world and the people who live in it are clear.

We, the people of God, are to be actively engaged in the “ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18)."

We have been called—all of us who believe—to be His witnesses in thought, word, and deed.

We are His people declaring the praises of Him who called us “out of darkness into his wonderful light (1 Peter 2:9)."

We have Jesus—the light of life—living in us. We are to let His light shine in us so that others may see our good deeds and glorify our Father in Heaven (Matthew 5:16).

We are to go deep with Jesus personally and to make much of Jesus publicly. “Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels (Luke 9:26).”

We are called to out-give, out-serve, out-sacrifice, and out-love all the unbelievers of the world, all the religious leaders, and people of the world that are outside of a relationship with Jesus Christ.

As the people of God, our perspective in life is to live:

• In the eternal, not temporal.
• In the unseen, not the seen.
• In the fear of God, not the fear of man.
• Courageously, not cowardly.
• Forgiven so as to forgive.
• Mercifully, not vengefully.
• Believing through faith, not sight.

We have one shot to put our ambition, our dreams, our desires, our brand, and our happiness on the altar of living for God. Just one speck of time to offer ourselves as living sacrifices. One millisecond in the span of eternity to prove to our world that following the ways of Jesus and spreading His message is what alone will bring lasting happiness, daily joy, and unspeakable fulfillment to our souls.

Whatever the failures of the past, forget them. Whatever victories of the past, forget them.

Today, let us pledge our hearts to live with reckless abandonment to the Lord of all glory—Jesus the coming King. In the meantime, be like Jesus to your world.

Ask Jesus to have all of you. And never forget that the Savior of mankind is still seeking and saving the lost (Luke 19:10).
