Consider a thread.
You’ll find nothing spectacular about this thread. No significance in length. No eye-catching pizazz from its lone color. No anomaly in the structure of its weave. A single thread is unbelievably ordinary with nothing special to boast in of its own.
But assign a thread to its purpose, and the final product deserves full attention and admiration.
Consider a tapestry.
The intricate design creating a stunningly beautiful fabric demands the wandering eye to stop and stare in wonder. The creative art draws hosts of praise to the artistic creator. The tapestry-maker, the extraordinary one, demonstrates his brilliance by using a very ordinary thread and weaving it together with a diverse collection of other ordinary threads.
The final product deserves full attention, and the maker his praise.
Consider a French Christian.
You’ll find nothing spectacular about this believer. She’s likely from another country as are so many who unite under their now French nationality. She speaks three languages, holds an undergraduate fine arts degree and enjoys reading classic novels. Though she is likely the only believer the people she works with have met, she is an unbelievably ordinary Christian with nothing special to boast in of her own.
But she lovingly and boldly tells her coworkers about the restorative love she found in the Person of Jesus.
Consider a French Church.
This body of ordinary believers gather, made up of all races and ages. Having little in common, they worship their Creator together having everything in common in Christ. They share meals together, share their homes together, and share the gospel together. While no one alone demands special attention, their presence and faithfulness in a city of spiritual darkness boldly declares the magnificent glory and majesty of the One who called them together as His beautiful Bride.
The church in France deserves our full attention, and the Maker His excellent praise.
