One of East-West’s missionaries found himself yet again driving for hours down dirt roads across the plains of Africa on his way to visit an East African community.

Once in the village, the traditions of the people’s way of life filled his sights. From starting fire with sticks, to sleeping in smoke filled rooms, to preschoolers counting to 100 and saying their ABC’s, the missionary soaked in the culture of their daily lives.

After he had been shown the village, he asked the village chief if a meeting could be called in the center of the village. He had a story he wanted to share with the people.

The village gathered around – all eyes glued in on the missionary—ready to hear what he had to share. In their native tongue of Swahili, he began to share his story with them.

He told of how God had created everything … all that is seen and unseen. The enemy Satan had a plan to steal worship for his Creator and pursuing this plan would create a battle on earth.

The story climaxed with the Victor—Jesus. Upon sharing of the victory over sin and death Jesus had brought to His creation, the villagers responded with incredible excitement.

One woman was struck with amazement at this story. The Creator of all things offers her life to be lived victoriously with Him for eternity because of His grace! Her amazement led to faith as she sucked in her breath and said, “Yesu Kristo!” (Jesus the Christ)

Her life, once tarnished and in darkness because of sin, was now made new by the blood and resurrection of Jesus Christ! In faith, she lives victorious and free to worship her Creator for all of eternity.
