Drawn to the Light

Read Genesis 12:1-3 and Isaiah 60:1-7.

In Genesis 12, God gives a distinct promise to Abraham: I will make you into a great nation … all people on earth will be blessed through you (Genesis 12:1,3).

As the Bible story unfolds, the nation of Israel spends most of their days in blatant rebellion against God, yet the promise remains. And in His perfect character, God always upholds His Word.

He alludes to this promise again in Isaiah 60, even saying His Light will shine so brightly and beautifully through His people—in this instance Israel—that it will draw the nations to Him. The world looks dark and dank in comparison to the Light … beckoning the lost to taste and see the goodness of God.

Today that’s happening around the world. As the gospel spreads, people from across the globe are fleeing spiritual darkness and “proclaiming the praise of the Lord” (Isaiah 60:6).

God is using the people He’s redeemed to usher in His Light. He wants to do the same through you. Will you let Him?

Father, use us to shine Your holy Light in a world filled with darkness. Amen.
