When a missionary walked into a local corner store, Daan—the store owner—was instantly intrigued by the foreigner and invited him to stay for a cup of tea. At the table, Daan soon learned his visitor was a follower of Isa al-Masih—Jesus—and just who he’d hoped to meet.
Only two days before, Daan had a dream about Isa and needed someone that knew about the Christian faith to help him understand it. But he wasn’t quite ready to open up about the Man who came to him in his sleep.
When the missionary came back a few weeks later to pray for Daan, he knew it was time to share more about the dream haunting his curiosity.
A Man in white with nail pierced hands had appeared, and Daan immediately recognized Him as Isa—the well-known and controversial Prophet spoke of in the Qur’an. Daan and his wife tried to stop His bleeding but couldn’t. As blood pooled from His Hands, everything it touched instantly turned white. Then Daan woke up.
Daan asked the missionary what the dream could mean. That’s when he was confronted with a story that held the power to change the trajectory of his life. The Name of Isa was familiar to Daan, but his Muslim upbringing conditioned him to reject anything that contradicted Mohammad.
Yet he sat there with an open heart, clinging to every word coming from the missionary’s mouth.
The missionary shared more about Isa, specifically how He was the promised Messiah who lived a perfect life, died an unjust death on a cross and rose again. In Islam, Daan was told that Jesus didn’t really die on the cross. But he’d seen the wounds in this Man’s Hand. The blood from his dream had to be real. He couldn’t deny something seemed right and true about the story the missionary told and the vivid picture he’d seen in his dream.
So when the missionary asked if he wanted to read the Bible with him, he responded with a resounding “yes.”
The next week, Daan invited his brother, Asil, to meet his new friend over tea to go through the Bible. He too had a dream about Isa and craved more information about Christianity’s Messiah. Together, these three delved deep into Scriptures that revealed more and more about Christ.
And the dreams kept coming, furthering their belief in Isa to the point that they were now telling their family, friends, and anyone who entered Daan’s corner store about Him. They now knew God had sent the missionary into Daan’s shop so they could learn the truths about God. Through the dreams and discipleship of the missionary, Daan and Asil were convinced Isa was who He said He was—the Way, Truth, Life and only path to eternity with a loving and merciful God they’d longed to know.
Just a few weeks ago, they were ready to make a public declaration of their new faith in Isa al-Masih and were baptized.
Today these brothers have a heart to bring the Word of God to other people who have yet to meet Isa and are boldly doing so through Daan’s storefront despite roaring opposition from local authorities. Please pray for Daan, Asil and those they’ve led to Christ as they serve as witnesses in their spiritually dark community.
