A Message from Our CEO on COVID-19
East-West exists to glorify God by multiplying followers of Jesus in the spiritually darkest areas of the world. This is true in times of flourishing and in times of famine.
The world is coming to grips with the impact of COVID-19, also known as the novel coronavirus. The virus has been labeled as a pandemic and is affecting people across the globe both personally and spiritually.
We recognize the gravity of the situation, and our reaction is to run to God and rest in His sovereignty, knowing His hand governs the world.
“For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” -Colossians 1:16-17
In the midst of the global spread of the virus, East-West is diligently taking steps to ensure the safety and continued work of our missionaries, short-term trip participants, and our staff in the U.S. Our response is to care for our team members and their families, who have selflessly dedicated themselves to making the name of Jesus known among the unreached.
Our purpose is to continue shining a light in spiritual darkness, and we are praying for opportunities for the gospel to advance in this time. We know Christ is ultimately our eternal hope in the face of adversity and trials.
“For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” -2 Corinthians 4:17-18
As our team seeks to evangelize the lost, equip local believers, multiply disciples of Christ, and plant healthy churches, we greatly covet your prayers to continue the mission God has set before us. Our missionaries are no strangers to hardships—whether facing persecution, health setbacks, or unexpected obstacles—and have persevered in the wake of uncertainty.
“Let’s not take from the devil's playbook of stoking fear, but rather infuse the chaos with truth, hope and love that only Jesus embodies.” -East-West Missionary
We ask that you pray for the safety and endurance of all involved in the ministry, from our missionaries abroad to our staff here at home.
We have assurance that the gospel remains true in all circumstances, now and forever.
Thank you for your support of East-West and for those on the frontlines of ministry carrying the light of the gospel into darkness.
